The cricketing world is gearing up for the ninth edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, set to unfold in an unprecedented co-hosting arrangement between the West Indies and the USA. Scheduled to take place from June 1 to June 29, 2024, this edition promises to be a thrilling spectacle, with a record 20 teams competing across 55 games for the coveted title.
The tournament will kick off with a clash between North American rivals as the USA and Canada face off in the opener at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas on Saturday, June 1. The event promises to be historic not only for the matchups on the field but also for the unique hosting dynamic, as matches will be spread across the picturesque locations of the West Indies and the vibrant cities of the USA.
Co-hosts, the West Indies, will begin their campaign against Papua New Guinea at the Guyana National Stadium on Sunday, June 2, adding an extra layer of excitement to the opening weekend. The cricketing carnival will then travel to one of the world’s most iconic cities, New York, where cricket fans can witness the intense rivalry between India and Pakistan on Sunday, June 9, in a cutting-edge 34,000-seat modular stadium located just 30 miles east of downtown Manhattan in Nassau County.
The 20 participating teams in the T20 World Cup 2024 have been grouped into four sets:
