The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has announced extraordinary success in its recent campus placements for the academic year 2023-24. The prestigious institute witnessed a diverse array of 388 organizations participating in the first phase of placements, offering students opportunities both within India and on the international stage.
The participating companies represented a broad spectrum of industries, including engineering, technology, finance, banking, fintech, management consulting, and data science. This diverse range of opportunities reflects the multidimensional skill set of IIT Bombay graduates.
Placement Strategies:
IIT Bombay adopted a unique strategy for scheduling company visits, aimed at minimizing stress for students and avoiding overlapping offers. The institute ensured that companies were maximally spread out, providing a streamlined approach to recruitment. Companies interacted with candidates through both in-person and virtual platforms, allowing students to attend interviews from the comfort of their campus.
Out of a total of 1,340 offers made by December 20, 2023, an impressive 1,188 students secured placements. Notably, seven students secured positions in Public Sector Units (PSUs), and 297 students received Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) based on their internships, with 258 students accepting these offers. The international scope of placements was highlighted by 63 students receiving job offers from countries such as Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Netherlands, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
Top Recruiters and High-Paying Offers:
IIT Bombay attracted some of the most esteemed companies in the global market. Top recruiters included Accenture, Airbus, Air India, Apple, Barclays, Google, Intel, JP Morgan Chase, Mahindra Group, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, Qualcomm, Samsung, Tata Group, and many others. Notably, 85 students secured annual packages exceeding ₹1 crore, showcasing the institute’s commitment to nurturing top-tier talent.
Comparison with Previous Years:
In comparison to the previous year, the number of participating companies increased significantly. This year, 388 organizations participated in the recruitment drive, while only 293 companies were part of the process during the same phase last year. Despite the challenging economic climate, IIT Bombay maintained consistency with 63 international offers, mirroring the achievements of the previous placement season.
